Prescription Drug Abuse: Young People at Risk
As you can see in this picture, Marijuana is one of the most common and hazardous drug abuse in this century we live in. I think teenagers should be more careful on what they doing and making smart decision. As you can see in the picture About 1 in 9 youth or 11.4 percent of young people aged 12 to 25 used prescription drugs nonmedically within the past year. (National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 2010). On the bottom right graphic, it says, Twenty-five percent of those who began abusing prescription drugs at age 13 or younger met clinical criteria for addiction sometime in their life. (National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 2010). I think that is abousltly shocking to me because i never expect a 13 year old boy start smoking at this age.
The video im gonna show is a group of people at San Diego high school who are protesting against teen prescription drug abuse.
I too am shocking that there are kids who starts smoking and using drugs from 13 years old. I wonder what makes them do all these bad stuff, because they should have known that it is bad to do it.
ReplyDeleteKeeyu I think what they makes them do is that at first time people offers them drug and push them to take it. They are so curious about it, they try it and because they like it, they keep on doing it. But there are people that are smart and think about their life, they don't do it.
DeleteWell for me is not really shocking that a 13 years old kid uses drug. In my country kids or teenagers uses drug. It is really bad that they are taking drugs because they are destroying their life at a young age. I wonder why their parents don't do anything about it or what they think.
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog, it is shocking how a 13 year old kid would start abusing prescription drugs. This generation keeps changing and not to good. Now a days we see young kids using drugs, being involve in gangs or having sex without knowing the consequences! In my opinion kids start using drugs because there depressed, don't have the attention or enough love from their parents. I really hope some were in the world their is help for kids who are using drugs or any other kind if danger they might be involve and to guide them to a good path. Good job (:
ReplyDeleteI am shock to see that many people begin to consume drugs at a really young age. We know that some drugs are good to our body but to over consume it, can cause a lot of damage to our body and brain.
ReplyDeleteI am very happy that you talk about this because these day a lot of people taking drug even at a very young age. Drugs a re killing a lot f people and destroying brains or body parts. I really hope that people can stop doing drugs.
