A closer look at Education Funding (Infographic)

This infographic and its blog were recently posted on an EL Educator site. I find it fascinating! Follow the color lines and discover how the U.S. spends the most on its school children, but our test scores come in closer to the bottom. What is holding our students back?

Add your comment below on how the U.S. can do a better job educating its students for less money. You can also comment on how your education in the U.S. differs from the education you received in your mother land.

  3. I'm sad and mad because Japan is not the top at the math test scores.

I don't know exactly how to make the U.S. smarter,
but what's different from Japan is that in Japan, almost everyone in 2nd grade starts to go to private schools after ordinary school, and they averagely study from 5 to 9 p.m. everyday even on the weekends.
They study harder problems that the ordinary schools won't teach, and they prepare for very smart high schools and college.

I also think that U.S. spends many money on school teaching supplies.

  4. I think what is holding us back is that we don't spend enough time at school and we are spending too much time on sport and school activities.

  5. I agree with you Tenzin, because everytime we have a sport game, we have to get out of class early. So that makes us not to learn a lot. Wow Keeyu thats a lot of hour of study. Probably we also need more hour on studying instead of wasting money on supplies that we don't even need.

  6. In my opinion, the United States can improve the education of its people by providing more hours of school per week. Also by trying to maintain each of the studenst in certain grades, on the same level of classes. Thinking of the education of Ecuador, I think the United States' education is better for me. In Ecuador most of the teachers didn't come to school and also we didn't have substitute teachers which make or point of education even lower because of the teachers and rules of the school. Education is very important for us and our society because whe can discover and find cures to things that now we can't. We should improve our education status by putting more effort.
