Was I Expecting You?

For my last blogging of the year I decided to describe an event that took place many times in my memory. This memory is very important to me because it came true. I guess is true what people say if you really wish for it, it might as well come true.

It happen a couple of days later after my birthday. I was at my Tia Morena’s house her daughter and I had being singing along to Barney. When all of the sudden my Tia walks in the room after answering the phone, and next thing I know I am running toward my house. I remember that everything around me was spinning and I thought for a second that I was trapped in one of those cartoons were the characters never seem to reach the end of the road. In that moment, while I was running, I tried to remember what my Tia had exactly told me when with her phantom face like if she herself has seen a miracle happen in front of her. Or like if she had seen into the future and witness the upcoming apocalypse, told that my mom was back. In the moment, I wish I was a fly in the wall so I would have seen myself turn into a phantom, not even worst probably. My feelings for my mom had not vanished either evaporate, but replaced. In an instance around of thoughts formulated in my head of how this person might look like after five years. Would she recognize me? Or have I change enough for her, that we cannot be related to each other anymore. What should I call her? These entire questions invaded my mind, and then it hit me a branch of the front door tree. My other Tia, my mother’s sister, had taken care of my brother and me since this person went away. Her name is Blanca, but we always called her Loly without any reasonable reason. As she opens the door for me, I immediately  step into the living room making my way to the dining room when I stop and see I shape, a figure that I am supposed to identify, but cannot. The same figure goes up to me with tears rushing down her face and gives me a big koala hug. Like one of those hugs that she would give me before tucking me into bed. In the moment I realized that all the way home I was too crying, but my tears were empty as if I was dreaming. Who was this lady who I am supposed to call Mami?

Soccer

Yo Amo Futbol

The first time I got into the most amazing sport in the world, was when I turned 5 years old. My dad would always watch it and I didn’t know what was going on at first, I was lost, his screaming scared me. Until one day, he sat me with him and we were watching Club America, which is my favorite soccer team today.  Eventually it became our regular routine to watch the games every weekend and I got use to all the yelling smacking me across the face. Once the summer came, I got signed up for Urban Stars, my first soccer team.  A lot of kids had trouble playing, I was the little star of the team, I would get subbed out because I scored to many goals. My early years of soccer were really fun and I met a lot of kids through the years.
I was 8 when I joined my first soccer club, Minneapolis United, and traveled around Minnesota and out of state. It was also the first time i had to do a try out to make a team, it was hard but I made the C2 team for U8. I went to so many places that I have never seen before, it was just a great experience for me at a very young age. My parents supported me and went to all my home games and after the season was over I got moved up to C1, Which is the next level of soccer. I played with them for 3 years. 2 years later I was introduced to this new soccer club that had just come from Mexico, Cruz Azul. There were a lot of Mexicans and they were really good players too, which made try outs a lot harder. The team I made was C3, we started at the beginner level, but worked our way all the way to Premiere and some player, including myself, got moved up the U16 premier team and I was only 14 years old! Soccer was my life before high school started, now it’s hard to do both things at the same time, but if I don’t give up I can play for varsity and keep my grades up.

My Role Model

My Role Model

My role model is Bruno Sammartino. He was a greatest wrestler and he was 4040 days as WWF champion. The longest single WWE Championship reign in professional wrestling history. Why he inspired me? He had a very horrible children hood. He born in Italy, he was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters. He four older siblings died because the Nazis during the World War II. He had to run away from the Nazis and he almost died for several times. And his moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the United States for a better life. Then he got bullies around because he was small and he had a tenuous grasp of English, but then he started to lift and build himself up in the weight training, he was work very hard and then he devotion to wrestling. He was getting big and better, all the sudden all the bully was disappear. He joined the World Wide Wrestling Federation company and he became a great WWF champion. He became famous wrestler, he not only wrestling in front a million people, he inspired a million teens that get on sport and lift weight, also made them stay away from drug, alcohol, gang and all the crazy stuffs. What a great immigrant story and a great inspiration to this country - the United State. Bruno Sammartino and me are both immigrant to this country, we both have a tenuous grasp English, because we have so much comment and the success that he had, it is very inspire me. His story made me motivates to never give up, and toward me to work hard each day at school, sports and finding a job. Even those that I looking for a part-time job about two years, I will apply more applications and I believe one day the dream will come true like Bruno survived from the Nazis.

coming to America

Significant Event

The most significant event in my life occurred when I came to America. It was my first day of kindergarten .I arrived in, . My family brought me to the United States from Kurdistan. I don't remember much because I was so young. What I do remember is when we arrived to America. We moved from Kurdistan, a city located in North Iraq. My life in America was very difficult because I faced so many struggles, such as my first day of  school. I struggled during school because I did not know how to speak English. This created a very uncomfortable situation for me at school because I did not know how to speak with my classmates. My parents on the other hand, did not know how to speak English either. which made life even more difficult. Where I'm from,we speak a language called Kurdish. Its nothing like English so, I felt isolated. It was difficult to learn and speak another language from my classmates, separated by a language gap. All of the students I was around could speak English and communicate very well. I felt nervous everyday on my way to school. Every day on the bus I thought,"This is a new world to me" My parents pushed their children to be successful through education. Therefore education was very important to me. I  decided I was not ready to start school. I stopped going because the students were disrespectful and behaved horribly towards teachers and foreign students.

When I first stepped into kindergarten, I was already aware that some of the students would be racist I had a feeling that students would react in a negative way when they met me. Every time they walked up to me they made fun of me. As life went by, I decided it was another chance to start class. When i entered my kindergarten classroom the second time, I had my dad with me. he wanted to be sure that I would get to class safely. Right after my dad left, tears started falling down from both my right and left eyes. I did not want my dad to leave, so I grabbed him as tight as I could. With tears I told him"They will eat me". I knew the students from my classroom would not actually eat me,but I still had the feeling the kids would hate me at the the same time imginng not speaking English at all and trying to participate at school. The difficulty Immigrants face, coming to the united states, not able to speak English. This event taught me never to racist and help students who migrated from another country. That is why this was a really important memory to share with you guys.

Role Model

My role model

My only role model and my motivation is my mother, why? She's is a beautiful independent single parent who works more than she should at, Mall of America , just so she can be buy me and my sister the things I need and don't need. My mother isn't like those boring regular mother she is better; she is like a best friend to me because I get to joke around her and just be myself and she does the same. My mother has influence me to finish high school and go to college and become whatever I want to be in life. As a high school student I have seen my mother work really hard to give me and my sister everything she never had. She is my motivation for becoming important in life; I get up every morning with a positive attitude. Thinking to myself that years and years go by and I’m this close to finishing high school, and soon I would go on my own to collage. I look up to my mother because she is preparing me to take the obstacles life has to bring me, to go after my goals by working hard and accomplishing them. I have planned the road ahead and now it is time to walk to give everything my mom needs, to thank her for supporting me and pushing me when I give up. I want to be able to be like my mother, an independent woman. I know I have disappointed my mother several times but I committed  myself to do good in school to repair the failures I have done so my mother can be proud of me. When I become A pilot my mom will never ever have to work she will have everything, her only job would have to be only see me succeed in life and enjoying life. " Failure is part of life, failure is essential for success for everyone because I always learn from your mistakes. You just need to put full effort in completing a task in order to not fail."

Basketball

NBA

One of the most significant sports that is important to me is basketball, which is also identified as NBA. Before I came here I didn’t really know anything about basketball because I have only seen people playing it, but I have never played basketball before I came to the US. When I came to the US I went to South View Middle School, there I had gym class and in the gym we played basketball. Since that day I started to love play basketball and watch basketball on tv. Playing basketball is a great way to exercise and a great way to have fun with friends. Basketball is very fun to watch on tv because when you watch it you can take the moves you see the professional’s perform and add them to your style of play. I try to take many of my moves from professional basketball players. Even though I am not that a good player but still I try very hard to get better and I love playing it and watching it. Basketball in my opinion the best thing I can do with my friends to have fun while burning a few calories. I see basketball as a fun and easy way to have fun rather than sitting on the couch all day playing video games. I love basketball is becauseI need only myself to play the game or I can play with teammates. I prefer to have others to play with rather than just playing alone. To me there is not only one word that I can describe basketball. You meet tons of people and you are able to play with your friends for hours without getting one thought of boredom. One thing I love about basketball is that people have and can make many different styles of play. There are styles such as a passer, playmaker, shooter, defensive player, and dunker or high-flyer.  When you play basketball you feel much more confident and makes you not care much about how others think about you. Many people have creative ideas and find new ways to trick the opposing players. Basketball is a great way to get your mind off things and is also a great way to express yourself. It is a sport that can work your whole body. It play a very big role in my life because I try to watch every game and play it when I have time. Also playing and watching basketball is my passion and I want to learn everything about basketball everyday.

Badminton!

Badminton

Badminton is one of the sports I adore playing.  I have been on the badminton team for two years now. My first year of badminton I tried to be a JV player. I mostly played as an exhibition, is a lower level for badminton and the points doesn't really count. Later on I played as a JV. I was really proud of myself. One thing I struggled during my first year of badminton was trying to smash during games. The couch tried to teach me how to smash, but for some reason it was really tough for me. I was a double and single player. I didn't like playing as a double player because I and my partner couldn't communicate. She only wanted to catch all the shots and not let me play as a double partner. That year I was a freshman and I didn't worry too much about school. I was confident that I was going to do well in school.

My second year of badminton went fantastic. My mom at first she wouldn't let me be in the badminton team. She thought that I wasn't going to have time to do my homework. She said that since is my first year of high school, it was going to be hard for me. I told her that not because I was going to join badminton again doesn't mean I was going to stop studying. I did get good grades and I reminded her that it all depends in yourself, if you really want to be successful. This second year of badminton I mostly played as JV and it really surprised me when the coach told me I was going to play as Varsity.  That second year I became a good player that I could smash on games. Every time we have a game, I got really nervous. Badminton is a sport that I never thought I was going to be so enthusiastic and passionate about it. I had lot of fun playing badminton. I think that badminton has an important role in my life.

Father and son

The Most Important Person in My Life, My Dad

The Most Important Person in My Life, My Dad
My father is the most important person in my life. Why? He has always shown and
Given my siblings and I everything we would need in life. He encourages me to work
Hard, as he is a very hard worker himself and down to earth man who doesn’t let failure rule his
Life. He always says, “Hard work is the key to success and everything life has to offer.”

My father has shown me a lot of examples of hard work back in Somalia. My dad would get up at 6;00 in the morning  to go to work in the market and come back at five in the afternoon and he never  said bad things about his job whether he had a bad day or not. MY dad was a business man in Somalia and he was like the mayor of the local city and people trusted him with every thing. Everyday after my father came home from work he played soccer with us and he took us to the ocean and we swam.
What make my dad such a great person is his experiences in life. He was a hard working man: he began his family when he was just fourteen years old in Somalia and he had his oldest son when he was just 18. He also used to work for the government and he even fought in the Ethiopia Somali war in 1977. He was a general and he was a key man in driving the Ethiopians out of Somalia.
My father is special
And more than a friend to me in the sense that he always cares, loves, advises, and
Motivates me to work hard in everything I do. He teaches me to be myself always tell
The truth. My father always puts family first. He always works hard for us and he always wants to keep us happy. My father enjoys cooking for us all the time.

3 Years that Created Most of What I Am Right Now

I used to be a C student.

During the three years of junior high school, I was on the girls’ basketball team in Japan. We never lost to nearby schools, and in my second year, the team won the state champion. As you can see, the team was very strong, but that also made it a very hard and strict club to be in. There were hardly any days without practice, and there were strict rules you must follow, such as you have to be a great student, and have to have short hair because long hair might distract you during the game. If you do anything wrong, in the worst case, you will be forced to leave the team. There were more than 10 people besides me planning to join this team in the beginning, but after few weeks of practice, only five (including myself) remained.

As I said, I used to be a C student. Our coach’s biggest belief was “Be a good student before being a good player”. But I always slept or did something else during classes, eventually making my test grades very poor. My homework was often late, and I always annoyed my coaches and teammates. Every time I got demanded to run outside for weeks for my punishment. Even though, I still handed in my homework late for about three more times. I really regret what I had done, and strongly desire to erase this history completely from everyone's mind (I don’t want to redo it even if I could because I don’t want to experience the extremely hard practices again). But I know that these three years were really worth it, because I learned manners that would really help me out there in the world, not just how to play basketball. I learned to never be late in handing in assignments again, and to study hard at school.

Omar Munie

Omar Munie (Uncle)

The guy who inspires and motivates me in life constantly and pushes me to the fullest is my 22 years old uncle Omar Munie . Omar is a successful, young and talented Dutch Designer who currently  lives in the Netherlands. Omar is known for his creativity, perseverance and the work of fashion. His bags are so unique  and well known that several celebrities such as Hillary Clinton, Jane Fonda and Yfke Strum (Dutch Model) Etc.. had worn it. He has won so many awards that I cant even name one and he also published his own book called Omar Munie which talks about the struggle he been through at home (Somalia ) and how he overcome that, as you can see through the picture of the book.

Omar has inspired me to be the man who I am, without him I wouldn't be the man I am right now. He told me once that "if you sacrifice everything you love and just focus in school and your dreams, I promise you will be successful like me." If you Analyze through that quote he just said, it kinda make sense If you put a side what you love and Chase on what you dreamt. I look up to Omar like my older brother he's been in my life since the day I was born even though  he's 22 years old. He gives me a lot of advice in life For example how to focus in school and how you can prepare for colleges in reality ect..  I just wanna say thank you for being my mentor in life Hopefully I can visit him this Friday but if I can't I promise ill visit you someday again in life. #KeepFightingBro #DreamChaser

The Best Winter Vacation!

The Best Winter Vacation!

Winter was one of my favorite seasons in Ecuador. I start my three month vacation during that time. Since I was young I loved these months because I could play with my cousins and visit some of my relatives that lived in different parts of Ecuador. The most memorable vacation I had was when I was about 12 years old.  I went to Santa Maria, Manabi which is a beautiful place surrounded by nature. Whenever I went there, I saw lots of animals outside each house. Most of the animals were pigs, donkeys, chicken, etc. I learned what things these animals ate, even though I wasn’t expecting them to eat left over and it was surprising when I saw pigs and donkeys eating banana peel. I also got to meet nice people. I can still remember how one night everyone in the village met outside a house. I was stunned by how many people were there. They all met there for one purpose, to pray to “El Nino de Caracol” which means the snail boy. El Nino de Caracol is a porcelain image of a boy inside a snail shell, which every year the image of the boy comes out of the shell miraculously. That night everyone lit a candle to the image. The owner of the house made food for all of us, and later we went to the streets and sing to the boy and god. After that day we went to visit my great grandma’s house. It was pretty and old. The house was basically made of cane woods, and it was surrounded by mandarin trees, cacao trees, and breadfruit trees. I loved to eat all this and I miss the flavors each fruit has. When night arrived, you could hear sounds of the insects. The emptiness of this city at night was kind of scary but peaceful. The rest of my one week vacation was fun, enjoying the nature with my grandparents, and relatives. Hopefully my next visit to Ecuador, I could go to this beautiful place and experience great things with the people I love.

My Top 3 Magazines

I choose gameinformer as one of my top three magazine because I like how they keep you inform on the upcoming games. I like playing video games so, I really enjoy reading this magazine. Gameinformer is a great magazine if you want to get  expanding perspective on new games or game console. Another magazine I enjoy reading is Seventeen because I really like reading about the new fashion clothes  beauty tips, and photographing. I think this magazine is the best to bring to a vacation to entertain yourself on what girls should have or shouldn't have. The last magazine I would bring  to a trip or vacation would be People. I enjoy reading this magazine because it keeps you update on your favorite celebrities. I personally like reading People because it entertains me when I'm bored or want to be relax.

One thing  i like about this magazine is, it analyses the video games based on there creatiria for example, there's sports, shooting etc.. all different kinda games you can imagine. So "Gameinformer is the magazine i would read all day.

My second choice of magazine that i would read is "Espn" because i love sports and im a big fan of different type of sports like basketball, football, boxing etc. Espn is the type of magazine that would keep me engaged because its talks about a variety of sports and i like that because im not that type of person who focus in one sport, that's not me. i like reading all kinda sports and it gives an update whats happening in the world. My favorite Magazines

Magazines On The Go!

The absolute magazine that I would take take on a trip would have to be EURO Sports. This magazine is updated with the latest soccer equipment cleats, uniforms and so much more. I also like it because you can buy your favorite club, player or country's jersey as well. It is also a great magazine to read with a friends who is also into soccer as much as me. They sell cleats for little kids too, this magazine is for all kinds of people, young, old, women and even female.
to see this magazine, please follow this link; http://www.soccer.com/

The second magazine I would have to bring is a game informer from Game Stop. This is really helpful for a gamer that likes to know the newest games or game systems that are coming out. You can also pre order games that are coming out, pre ordering games make you pay less when the game is in the store and the game comes with extra items, but it depends what kind of game you pre ordered. the Game Informer also gives you cheat codes to certain games that can help you finish the game or just to have more fun while you are playing it with friends or online.
to see this magazine, please follow this link;

Sport Illustrated would have to be my third choice because its about sports. This magazine is a great way to be up to date with scores, matches, teams and much more in the top sports of the United States. you can read about your favorite players or read about rookies that are becoming big in the sports world. This magazine will write about a lot of famous players, legends, stadiums and calenders of the games for that week

Fun to Read!

There are a lot of magazines we can read when we go on trips but sometimes the ones that are being offer but they are not that interesting. Ussually those kind of magazines only focus on one topic which most them doesn't grab the attention of us, teenagers. one of the three magazines I recomend is Seventeen. It offer for most of the girls great variations of topic. it includes from being healthy and having a good diet to being a fashionista. It is also surprising that a girl's magazines can also focus on subjects about society that many people around the world are facicing which is bully.
My second advise is to always carry a magazine to long trips. A great magazine is National Geographic, has a lot of information of things we don't know and also we can learn from it. I'm a person that loves animals, if u love them too, you should read National Geographic. It covers of places around the world that we haven't hear of and we will be amazed of the interesting facts and its people.
My third advice will be Discover magazine. I love this magazine because it tells the possibilities of how the future is going to be and makes our imagination fly. I get really curious when I'm reading those kind of topics. It also teach us about our body and how it functions.
Reading magazines can be fun when you don't have nothing to do and you have to wait for long hours. Lets read!

Magazines for the Go!

Magazines for the Go!

If I was to travel I would take some magazines about gardening, traveling, and current news. I would take these kind of magazines because I like the pictures of the first two, and the third one helps me to understand a little better of what is going on here in the U.S and around the world.

Gardening believe it or not is one of many things that I always look forward during spring and summer. What I love about gardening magazines are the pictures and well explain instructions; the advice and new looks of the season. I personally don not have preference for a certain magazine, but I like to read any kind of gardening magazine because of the variety of useful tips of how for example plant your first plant or how to know which roots are the best when buying a new plant. I also Love to make an attempt to always make a little room in my yard so I can try and plant some daisies.

My next choice was a traveling magazines because as same as the gardening magazine I love the illustrations that the editors use. Also because I like to imagine that some day I would get to go to one of those glorious getaways. I like to read the descriptions as well because it I feel like if I am being taking to such a beautiful place to relax and just chill for a while. I enjoy to do this kind of reading when I am stress or just when I am at home doing perfectly nothing. The magazines themselves have multiple tips too of how to save money for a future trip or where you might find the perfect hotel for your dream vacation.

At last but not least I would take a current news magazine because I would always try to be inform with what is happening here in the U.S and all around the world, specially I always be on top of what is happening in my home country, El Salvador. Besides if you are on the way to a place you don not have any idea of their political, economic, or even religion status it would be helpful to grab the magazine that at least would have an article of the place.

Some Periodical that I like

SOME PERIODICAL THAT I LIKE

Favorites Magazines Of the Week

In this coming summer, if I had to go other country on airplane, I would take New Ferrar, Secret Of The Royal Baby and Evolution's Next Stage with me to read on the plane. All of this magazines are popular because it's new and also it has a lot of secrets and amazing things that people want to know about the world. For Example: I love cars but I dont know much about cars. So, I would love to read any magazines or newspaper about cars, because it's easy to read and easy to understand. Another magazine that I love to read is about any breaking news or anything about a famous people's lives. Another very interesting magazine that I like was the evolution's next stage which really make me curious about what is going to happen to the world in my generation.

The first magazine that I would take to my long trip is New Ferrar. This magazine is about how they have new prices for new and famous car and also in this magazines is definitely one of the best automotive magazines on the market. This magazine explains about how and why they are selling these cars the ways they sell, like they tell you how is the car made out of and why would that car be a higher prices or lower prices. I am taking this magazines because it gives me so many more information about cars and how they are put together by using many different technology, even though I can't buy a expensive car like that now, but I am wishing to buy a car like the car they talk about in this magazine because they really explains it well.

My second favorite magazine that I would want to take it with me on my long trip is the Evolution's Next Stage. This magazine is about what would happen on the earth in next generation and I really would love to hear or read anything about the world. In this world Technology is changing humans' life very fast and making it easier. This magazine also talk about life afterHomo sapiens begins right now, but the Neanderthal can still be found lurking inside our DNA. By this problem, learn how to stop a global blackout, why chronic fatigue became such a debacle, and whether or not an immune boost can make you smarter. I am taking this magazine because I am very interested learning more things about what is going to happen on the earth coming generation.

The third magazine I would love to have to with me on my long trip on plane is the secrets of the royal baby. In this magazine, they talk about famous people who are pregnant and breaking news about famous people's lives. I would love to take this magazine because since I came to the USA I have always learn and know more about the world and famous people around the world. When I was in my hometown I didn't know anything about the world my little world which is people and animals around me. If I take time read this magazine, then I am pretty sure that I would learn a lot more about famous people and how their lives are like.
